I swear. I was out of the room for only a few minutes.
I can't even describe the panic and laughter that both hit me at the same time, the minute I saw my son shoving thousands of blueberries in his ears.
It was another one of those "What were you thinking?" moments but with a few expletives thrown in the middle.
We quickly marched off to a bath and detailed ear inspection (which he hated me for, of course) before bedtime. *sigh*

I swear, we were turned the other direction for only a few minutes there in the gravel driveway.
I can't even describe the sober gravity and awe (akin to panic and laughter) that hit both of us at the same time when Bree, 3 years old or so, told us she had a rock up her nose. Where? We can't see anything ... oh ... Jeez, Bree! It was another one of those "What were you thinking?" moments, but with a few expletives thrown in the middle.
We quickly hauled her to the doctor who ended up wrapping the little girl in a tight papoose blanket wrap, with Mommy and Daddy holding down the screaming little precious, head thrashing, as the doctor tried this probe, then that probe, oh hell then the tweezers. Oh nurse, pass me a longer tweezers, please - longer, I said -- I know, it's hard to hear with her shrieking like this... my oh my, it's really waaaay up there. Ok, got it! Ew! No, she'll be fine (may hate you for bringing her here, of course). "Sigh" ... [If only we had pix - alas, none! But the image is burned into our memory bank. Try to imagine it - it's priceless, and reminds us she is her son's mother]. Happy Mother's Day, Breezy!
