We had an unexpected ER trip yesterday when Callum spiked a fever at dark o'thirty. :(
Thankfully, his counts are ok, so after some fluids, Tylenol, and antibiotics, we got to go home. He was actually supposed to have his LP yesterday though, so that has been postponed to Monday, assuming he'll be better by then.
But, he spiked another couple of fevers later in the afternoon and had some vomiting, poor guy. It was a long night as he had trouble sleeping due to this incessant cough that's started up.
Today is the school Halloween parade and class parties. It's a big event and I actually signed up to volunteer at both boys' parties - but because Callum is under the weather, I'm keeping him home instead. He was a little sad to miss the parade and party, but he feels so crappy he didn't object too strongly (tells you how bad he's feeling I guess!).
Even though I knew he'd probably miss the parade based on how things were going yesterday, I cranked out his costume last night just to be safe. Since he's not appearing at school, we decided to do a few pics at home together instead.
Logan was all about creating these scenes and acting them out by the way. :) Love my boys.
Happy Halloween to all!

Unpacking
What to do when you can't find any of the wrapping paper or gift bags in the towers of boxes stacked everywhere?
Take a few pieces of the MOUNTAIN of packing paper, combine with slave labor, and voila! Homemade wrapping paper! 😂😂
(I'm going to be unpacking for weeks!)

Moving Day!
The movers showed up right on time and got straight to work. Roughly 2 hours later and the bulk of our house is now empty!!
The boys have moved from room to room to hang out on couches or beds until I kick them out to let the movers pack up. We're now down to a single trampoline to play on in the living room. ;-)

Bittersweet
We're both happy and sad to be leaving this home - the only home either boy has known and grown up in so far! So, I guess this move is a pretty big deal.
I think it'll be a little bittersweet when we officially move out tomorrow - but we are also looking forward to making many new memories in our new home, and can't wait. :)

Like a boss.
Callum didn't like that the barista couldn't say his name. So when she asked him how to spell it, he said just let me write it. And took over like a boss. 😂😂

Costume Change up
The school sent out a reminder to everyone this week that the kids aren't allowed to wear masks, fake blood or weapons as a part of their costumes.
Logan said, what kind of Halloween costume is it when you can't have fake blood, weapons or wear masks?!?
:)
So we started brainstorming new costume ideas (and it was actually pretty difficult coming up with something that the boys like, but doesn't fall into the school's no-nos).
Callum asked if he could be a Goomba (one of the mushroom bad guys in Super Mario Brothers) and I thought well maybe I can try to put something together that would work....
And here I am, after midnight and pooped, but making good headway on a new costume for Mr. C.

The fruits of our labor
I'm willing to bet, if we hadn't picked this corn ourselves, he wouldn't be readily munching on it, nor asking for more! 😆
Webb Ranch Pumpkin Patch
Yesterday was a pretty jam packed day!!
We first headed up to Webb Ranch to check out their pumpkin patch. We arranged to meet up with another family of friends who live in our neighborhood. They have 2 boys the same age/grade as Logan and Callum. Logan befriended August, their second grader, one morning on the bus to school. Callum and Hugo both play on the same soccer team! :)
What was fun was that once we were there, we ran into several other families that we know - with kids that are school friends of the boys. They loved it of course.
The two older boys ran off with another second grade buddy of theirs, jumping in the bouncy houses and waiting in the dark corners of the haunted house to scare the little ones. So, I don't have any pics of them. ;-)
Callum, Hugo, and Everleigh (another friend we ran into who is in Callum's class) all decided to ride on the train (tractor?) ride, sharing one car amongst the three of them! (Super cute)
After, Callum, Hugo (and the moms) took the hay ride to the nearby corn field where we got to pick some corn to take home! The boys both picked an extra ear for their older brothers. :)
After the pumpkin patch, we headed to their house for a lovely lunch and play date before we split ways.
I hauled the boys off to the theatre where Jon met up with us to see the new movie Pan. The boys loved it but Jon and I were a little bored. Oh well. :)
After the movie, we then took off to ANOTHER friend's house for dinner! Karen and I were great friends in grad school but haven't seen each other in a long time. So we finally decided we should get everyone together (and have the kids meet each other!). Karen and Joe's kids are older but we're still very patient with our demanding little ones ;-) and everyone had a great time.
After stuffing our bellies with some delicious homemade food, we finally climbed into our cars and headed back home late last night. Phew!

Flu shots? Check!
After a terribly traumatic experience last year, I'm happy to report not a single tear was shed during shots this morning (prepping their arms with a little Emla cream may have also helped - Mwahahaha!)! :)
Phew!!

A bookworm is born
Logan has really turned a corner with his reading this year!
He just finished this book he's been reading the last few days and is very proud of himself. 302 pages, 34 chapters, 4 days (I think it may have been a couple more days but he's very adamant that it's only been 4 so I'll give it to him). ;-)

The Lion King
My parents took the boys to see The Lion King this past Sunday night. They had a fantastic time and have been talking about the story, and show, for the last couple of mornings as we drive to school. :)
Thanks again Mom and Dad, for taking them out!!

Rock, paper, scissors
I arrived a little early to pick up Callum yesterday, which meant he didn't get his usual time in to play with his buddy. So, he made me wait while they played a few rounds, before we took off. ;-)
On our street
Logan and I stumbled across these cuties while driving up our street (of our new neighborhood) yesterday morning. They were pretty relaxed, munching on their breakfast, while we just drove by!! :)

The beginnings of a Creeper
These projects of mine always take longer than I anticipate. Phew!
I finished the torso and half of the legs late last night. I tested out my measurements on Callum this morning (and it needs a few tweaks) and then went on to assemble the rest of his lower body and legs/feet quickly this afternoon. I'll let them dry before attaching the feet to the lower body.
Next up, his head!

Mod Pizza
We dropped Jon off at the airport and hadn't eaten lunch yet, so I decided we'd try out this pizza place nearby that I've seen since it first set up shop, but hadn't yet tried.
We loved it! And looking forward to going back with Jon since we think he'll like it too. :)

Monthly check up
Callum, like everyone else right now, is fighting a bit of a head cold. But, he's in great spirits and his numbers look good (which is most important!). :)
