I was assigned to, and helped with, the first "appetizer" house, of our Neighborhood Progressive Toga Party tonight (part of a fundraiser for the school district). We didn't really plan out what we would do for food and decorations until last weekend, so we basically had a week to pull it all together. And, we had a tiny budget! But we made it work. Phew!
This is the view from our neighbor's house (the appetizer house) - and this gorgeous display of wine was dedicated from one of our other neighbors who owns a vineyard (in South America!).
We also thought it would be fun to make a "photo booth" - and since I'm the wanna-be crafty one, that was my assignment, to make it work. So, I created a bunch of theme appropriate props (or found them cheap, like those awesome goblets you see on the table), hung up a sheet and tablecloth as a backdrop and voila! Photo booth time!
My biggest chore of all the props was creating that fake column - can you guess what it's made out of?!? Pool noodles of course! ;-) (and some leftover paint, plywood, etc.)
It was a bitch to make and all week long I kept doubting myself, not sure it would really pass for a prop, but I got several compliments throughout the night about it, so I guess it worked ok!
