Business Day!
Logan's recent class assignment was to create a new business. The students had to put together a business plan (some worked in small groups and others worked alone) and then figure out how they'd make the product, or provide the service, that they would sell.
They had certain costs to consider (materials, licensing, space to rent, etc) as well as a schedule to manage - leading up to the big day today, where everything was available to buy, by visiting parents, 4th and 5th grade neighboring classes, and fellow classmates too. :)
Every kid did a fabulous job and I came home with a bunch of fun things to share with the family (miniature clay creatures, inspirational art quotes, homemade bath bombs and salts, magnetic slime, pom-poms, bookmarks and of course, Logan's unique comic strips!). So fun!!

Teacher Appreciation Week
It's Teacher Appreciation week, so I asked the boys to sit down and write a couple of cards for their teachers this morning. This is what they came up with - not too shabby!

Arcades and cool down
AND THEN... because all of that wasn't enough, the kids spent an hour playing games in the arcade, before we closed down the party. :)
After we said goodbye to most of his friends, we swapped kids with the Jodoins and took Connor home with us (while Logan went home with them), for an overnight. They are currently having a ball in the pool (which is just BARELY warm enough to play in, at 78*, but they don't seem to care and are having a blast)! Pretty much a sweet birthday weekend for our little guy, if you ask me! ;-)

Pizza, gifts and cupcakes
We finished a round of mini-golf in about an hour, which was perfect timing since lunch was about to arrive. We lounged in the shade to rehydrate, eat some pizza and cupcakes, act silly for the camera, and most importantly for Mr. Callum, open his gifts!
Miniature Golf
Callum LOVE playing mini-golf, and asked to go to Golfland for his birthday. So, we had a few of his closest friends join us for a fun day out. It was quite hot today!! So, even though Callum really wanted to do both sides (2 sets of 18 holes), we only played one. Still, the boys had an ABSOLUTE blast!! Hootin' and hollerin' and cheering each other on. So much fun!! :)

Callum turns 8!
Today is our sweet little dood's 8th birthday!!
For breakfast, he and I headed out for donuts (and bought WAAAAY too many!). After our sugar high, he asked to go to Target, and bought a little toy. :) We then visited Daddy at his (new) office, which Callum hadn't seen yet - and offloaded a couple of donuts. ;-)
After he got home from school, he and Logan enjoyed ANOTHER donut, and opened presents from the family. He loved it all.
Happy birthday goofball. We love you mucho!

Columbia State Historic Park
Another great day!
We spent today exploring the historic town of Columbia, a cool little Gold Rush town, founded in 1850, and now a touristy spot which has preserved a lot of its original mining town flare.
We first learned to pan for gold - the boys loved this activity the most and would've stayed to do this all day long, if we had let them! They found a few flakes and a bunch of garnet gems. Very exciting (if not back breaking work!) ;-) The trip, and the gold panning specifically, has been terrific timing and of great interest to Logan, as he just covered the Gold Rush era in his Social Studies at school, the week before break!! :)
After that we explored the rest of the town, checking out the old timey saloon, candy shop, saw what the dentist and drugstore looked like in the 1850's, looked into the town's jail (crazy sad!), and walked up the long hill to the town's schoolhouse. :)
We then headed back to the truck for another yummy picnic lunch, then went back into town to dip our own candles (and buy a few others). We ended with a trip back to the "gold store" so the boys could buy little trinkets filled with gold. Logan is excited to share his gold (and silver, he bought vials of both) with his teacher when he gets back to school this week. :)

Pinecrest Lake
We're spending a long weekend in the mountains with our friends, the Cables family. We haven't seen them in a long time, so it's been really nice just hanging out and catching up.
Today, we spent the day at a nearby lake called Pinecrest Lake, hiked a bit around the lake exploring, ate a delicious picnic lunch in the back of our truck, then spent the afternoon teaching the kids how to cast lines and try to fish (we didn't catch anything).
We're bummed the snow has melted, but enjoying the gorgeous weather nonetheless! :)
