Once a musician, always a musician?

A keepsake for the kids
Just finished making these "bucket filler" bookmarks for all the kids in Logan's class. I'll set them out on their desks, to surprise them at their Open House tomorrow night. It's meant to be a keepsake for the kids, from a series of Project Cornerstone lessons I've been teaching (with another parent) in class all year long.
The theme this year was empathy. And the stuff that these kids come up with, to say about each other, is simply amazing.

Goal!
Today was Callum's turn at the stage! His class performed a musical called "Goal" and they did a really impressive job!
Callum was all over the place with his many roles - first at the door, welcoming parents and passing out programs, then at the back of the auditorium controlling the lights to light up the stage (!!), then onstage playing the role of "Michael", an enthusiastic soccer player and then later as "Whiney Kid #3", a - you guessed it - whiney team player! ;-)
He did great, and so did everyone else! What a fun afternoon.

Craft time!
Who needs a craft room when I can just use the boys' trampoline?!? ππ€πΌ
We've got the annual neighborhood progressive party coming up (where we sell tickets to raise money for the schools), and we're one of the sponsoring families again this year.
The theme is Mardi Gras so I'm making a couple of beaded "chandelier" decorations to hang up. I want to add a few more embellishments, but I think it's coming along nicely! π

A 49er Miner
Today, Logan's class gave a "wax museum" presentation! Each of the students were dressed up as a character from the Gold Rush days and frozen (like wax) until you "activated" them (by pushing their red button - you can see Logan's on his hand). Once activated, they came to life and told a little bit about their character's life. Logan was a 49er Miner. π

Music Class Concert
Last night was Logan's music class concert. He wasn't particularly thrilled about going - but stuck with it.
Callum and I were proud supporters in the front row (which, apparently, made Logan more nervous, seeing us there!), so we took a few goofy pics after it was all over (does that look like relief on Logan's face?!?) :)

Charlie’s Acres
We visited our friends’ amazing animal sanctuary (Charlie’s Acres) in Sonoma today. The weather was perfect, and the animals (and boys) were on their best behavior! π
After a lovely tour, we helped with some chores (the boys spread wildflower seeds before joining us to help stain one of the new barns) and then headed back home. It was a wonderful way to celebrate Mother’s Day - my heart is thankful, and full. ❤️❤️❤️

Open House
Tonight we went to Callum's Open House, where he was our dedicated tour guide throughout his room and school. ;-)
We are very proud of all he has accomplished! I'll post all of his artwork separately - but these two poems I also had to share. Because they are so good, and I got a real kick out of them. They also ring quite true. :)
