Another neuropsych test session in the books!
"Mom, you know how you say don't stuff yourself? I think I'm going to skip that rule today. "
Callum worked up QUITE the appetite, after finishing four hours of neuropsych testing today! He's doing just fine academically - there are a couple of very minor things that the psychologist has suggested I raise for awareness and to keep an eye on, as he transitions to a new school next year.

Paintball party!
Callum had two birthday parties to attend yesterday. I was pooped just driving him back and forth across the Bay Area, but boy did he have a blast.
The first party was a paintball party and he was SO excited (but also a little nervous), since he had never been before (they did a "junior" version for younger kids where the guns aren't nearly as powerful, which was perfect for these guys). It was a little overwhelming for all of them - but once the kids finally got started, running around like crazy in the field, they all had so much fun!! Callum had a blast, and it gave me some good ideas of future parties to host ourselves. ;-)

An evening magic show
The birthday celebrations continued this evening, at a magic show up in the city! We had a terrific time!
Callum volunteered for one of the tricks - where he colored in a drawing while the magician had his back turned. Then, after, the magician showed the same drawing he had sealed in an envelope that was colored the same as Callum's! Impressive! :)
It was such a nice day. Hope everyone had a lovely St. Paddy's Day!!
Afternoon tea
Today is my birthday! I had a really nice time earlier today at "afternoon tea" for brunch with Jon and the boys. We all really enjoyed ourselves. The boys asked if we could go again sometime and Logan asked if he could go for his birthday! I figure that's a pretty big two thumbs up from those kids. ;-)
Logan demonstrating "pinkies up" ;-) |
This place had plates for the kids too! PB&J tea sandwiches and little mini pizzas with their scones - could be a big reason why the boys loved it so much :) |
Logan took this pic - not bad, right?!? |
Parent Teacher Conferences
I met with both of the boys' teachers this last week to hear how things are going in school. They're both bright kids but of course, have a few things they need to work on. I feel like saying "you're preaching to the choir lady" anytime I go to these damn meetings. Nothing they tell me is a mind blowing surprise or anything. :)
Interestingly, Callum's teacher decided to have the kids present at their own conference, so I got to also listen to Callum's self-assessment and question him directly too! I loved his "reflection" paper (that he was reading off of in the meeting) and had to share here.
When he said he needs to work on talking a little less - I said, "hmmm, what a surprise!"
And he said, "What? How is that a surprise? I talk a lot!!"

A day in the life with boys
Overheard this morning:
"Callum, I'm serious! Stop!"
"Okay, I'm just going to rub my butt on the door."
🤔😂😂😂🤷🏻♀️
Happy Saturday y'all!
